Throughout our history, NEC has been known as a technology leader, with HYDRAstor just one more example of a breakthrough invention from a company with a consistent track record of innovation. NEC has filed nine HYDRAstor-related patents, including those on DynamicStor™, DataRedux™ and Distributed Resilient Data™ (DRD) technologies, to create a new paradigm in storage.
Comprised of self-aware, self-healing industry-standard servers with no single point of failure and no resource bottleneck, HYDRAstor enhances storage environment flexibility while reducing complexity and management overhead.
DynamicStor Technology - Effortless Management
DynamicStor intelligent management software from NEC functions as the 'brain' of HYDRAstor. Self-managing and self-tuning, DynamicStor allows non-disruptive add, remove and upgrade functions and supports industry standards such as SMI-S and SNMP.
DataRedux Technology - Efficient Storage
DataRedux examines the "digital DNA" of incoming data within and across multiple data streams, eliminating duplicate data at a sub-file level. For maximum storage efficiency, DataRedux operations are performed inline before data is stored on disk. HYDRAstor's DataRedux reduces storage capacity by 95 percent or more, not only lowering your storage acquisition costs but also reducing power, cooling and other environmental costs.
Distributed Resilient Data Technology - Recovery Assurance
DRD was developed in response to customer demands for greater data resiliency and higher availability without the limitations and overhead of RAID. DRD's default resiliency level protects data from three disk or node failures offering 300 percent more protection than RAID5 but with similar storage overhead and no performance degradation in the event of hardware failure and disk rebuild.
