Up to 99.999% System Uptime
Equipped with fully redundant components to deliver up to 99.999% continuous uptime, NEC's Express5800 series of servers delivers the highest performance available with Intel Quad-Core and Dual-Core Xeon processors. Unlike conventional Intel-based server solutions that are not fully redundant, NEC's FT redundant server architecture helps to eliminate single points of failure to isolate failure points immediately. This process saves significant time troubleshooting and helps to preserve memory and processor status.

NEC's FT servers also feature additional I/O capability that provide more connections and increased bandwidth. The Express5800 offers a new feature called Active Upgrade which is the first solution to eliminate the need to disrupt server operations to conduct essential software maintenance on the Windows Server platform. Active Upgrade enables non-stop server operation while performing software maintenance that often removes other servers from operation for several hours.

ExpressCluster Software Recovery Edition (SRE) is an innovative software and service solution that continuously monitors applications and operating systems, and automatically restarts the system in the event of a software-related problem. Combined with the FT server, SRE helps to provide a total availability solution.

Email alerts will be sent identifying operational faults or provide warnings that predetermined thresholds for temperature, voltage, fan rpm, memory capacity, etc. have been exceeded. NEC will monitor the server 24x7.

"The most important message that the nation, the electric industry, and its regulators should take away from this report is this: the August 14 (2003) blackout and every major regional blackout that preceded it dating back to 1965 - could have been prevented if clear, common-sense reliability measures had been followed." - Then Federal Energy Regulatory commission chairman, Pat Wood III responding to the largest blackout in the history of North America.
