Sustainable Business Practices
NEC Corporation of America (NEC) has minimized or eliminated the use of hazardous substances in products that we sell. We strive to make continuous improvement in our approach to enhance economic, social and environmental conditions. Our goal is to deliver innovative products and services, eliminate wasteful practices, increase energy efficiency, reduce total cost of ownership, and offer end-of-life recycling alternatives.
 
Environment, Health and Safety
To help preserve the global environment and contribute to building a sustainable society, we will not only observe all applicable laws, rules and regulations but also continuously work to reduce any adverse impact on the environment that results from any stage of a product?s lifecycle, from materials procurement and manufacturing to distribution, use, recycling, and disposal.
 
NEC Corporation announced its Environmental Management Vision in March 2003 which included the very original, for its time, environmental management goal of "real zero" CO2 emissions and we have been promoting its environmental management policy accordingly. We provide a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with applicable standards, laws, rules and regulations.

NEC Environmental Action Plan
The NEC Group helps reduce the impact on the global environment and contributes to building a sustainable society. NEC will make harmony with the environment one of its primary goals so that each individual within the company will act with this in mind. Respect for and preservation of the environment is our priority.
  1. To create products that conserve energy and save natural resources, while giving careful thought to environmental and safety issues during the product development and planning stages.
  2. To encourage the development of environmentally beneficial technology on all levels of the product lifecycle: from development through sales and distribution, up to and including the use and ultimate disposal of an NEC product. To introduce materials, engineering and recycling methods that will minimize adverse effects on the environment.
  3. To respect and adhere to national and regional environmental regulations. To strive, strengthen and enforce even stricter NEC environmental standards.
  4. To contribute positively to society through an environmental management program with a global perspective, while educating and raising the environmental consciousness of all company members.
  5. To provide a structured administrative organization for environmental management, with executives in charge of different areas, to delegate responsibilities and to be in the forefront of environmental matters at all times.
  6. To maintain and strengthen an independent environmental management system and to implement improvement measures based on internal environmental company audits.
  7. To contribute to environmental protection by continuously making public announcements on the latest NEC developments in environmental technologies and management methods.
