NEC's Redmond Technology Center (RTC) is a research and development organization focused on leading-edge Windows®-based technologies from both Microsoft® and NEC.
Working with the Windows family of operating systems and Microsoft's Windows Server System products used with various NEC hardware and software platforms, RTC facilitates both the technical and business relationships between NEC and Microsoft. This ensures that Windows-based solutions on the NEC platform meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations.
RTC helps to ensure that NEC servers come with the Designed for Windows logo. Since many customers use software from both NEC and Microsoft, RTC assists in the integration of products from both companies. These efforts include Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) Management Pack for ESMPRO, and ExpressCluster for Exchange Server Standard Edition. RTC assisted with the demonstration of CPU Hot Add for dynamic server reconfiguration on Windows Servers, code-named Longhorn, on NEC's Express5800 Itanium 2-based server. This effort highlighted how the close working relationship between Microsoft and NEC promotes platform innovation and enables new features. RTC's early testing with new Microsoft product releases also makes the products more reliable upon delivery.
In addition, as part of NEC Corporation of America's Solution Platform Group, RTC assists with development and alliance activities for NEC's server, storage, and software products in North America.
The business groups at RTC include:
