EXPRESSSCOPE Engine makes remote server management safe and simple for NEC servers.
The NEC Express5800 servers are equipped with EXPRESSSCOPE Engine, a specially designed baseboard management controller (BMC) chipset, to provide extensive remote management capabilities ― from monitoring the health of remote server components including CPUs, memory, and cooling fans, to remotely controlling and powering on/off the servers ― regardless of the status of the server's power or operating system.
Through the years, servers have become significantly affordable and easy to implement, and with the prevalence of the Internet, web-based services have become widely used in all areas. This environment has made it common for companies to own multiple servers to deploy one for each department, division, and even workgroup. As a result, server management has become challenging.
The extensive remote management capabilities of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine untangles the complexities in operating and maintaining multiple, distributed servers and alleviates the burden of administrative tasks.
EXPRESSSCOPE Engine provides three key remote capabilities for efficient, centralized management of multiple servers.
From a remote management console, administrators can view the status of servers. In the event of a failure, Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) system event logs collected by the EXPRESSSCOPE Engine, in addition to error logs collected by the operating system, are made available for remote analysis and diagnosis. more >
Servers can be rebooted and powered on/off from a remote management console. This capability allows administrators to remotely reboot and resume operation of a stalled server without the need of being on site. more >
Servers can be controlled from the keyboard, video or visual display, and mouse (KVM) of a remote management console, just as if administrators were directly operating the servers on site. CD-ROM, DVDs and other media can be remotely inserted into the servers as well. more >
