NEC Announces Opening Of Washington DC Office

Location will Help Global Leader in Biometric Technology Provide Greater Focus and Support for Government Customers

Irving, Texas - May 16, 2016 - NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced IT, communications, networking, biometric identity, and multimodal biometric solutions, today announced that it is opening a new office in Washington, D.C. The significant new presence is a showcase for NEC's industry leading identity solutions and biometric technology dedicated to serve its many government customers and partners.

The new office will be unveiled in an invitation only grand opening reception on May 19 attended by leading officials from the U.S. government, academia, and the private technology sector. The reception will include welcome remarks by NEC Corporation of America's president and CEO Shinsuke (Shin) Takahashi and a key note talk by Jim Lewis, Senior Vice President at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Mr. Lewis is an internationally recognized expert on cyber security and is often featured on various media and press outlets including CBS's 60 Minutes.

"Staffed with engineering, project support and our targeted, US-Federal focused go-to-market teams, this office serves as a platform in supporting our existing customers in various Departments including the DHS (Department of Homeland Security), and DoD (Department of Defense): as well as pursuing new opportunities in this growing market."

The new NEC office in D.C. is complemented and supported by NEC's identity technology headquarters and Biometric Center of Excellence (COE) -- a showcase for NEC's latest identity and biometric products -- in Rancho Cordova, outside of Sacramento, California.
