What is NDAA Section 889?

Section 889 of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act - otherwise known as NDAA Section 889 - prohibits the U.S. Government from purchasing or contracting with organizations that use video and telecommunication equipment or components from certain Chinese companies.

The companies, including any associated subsidiaries or affiliates, are:
  • Huawei Technologies Company
  • ZTE Corporation
  • Hytera Communications Corporation
  • Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Company
  • Dahua Technology Company
According to NDAA Section 889, federal contractors are required to certify that no covered equipment is sold to the U.S. Government, and if services are provided, it is not using covered equipment to provide the services.

It is NEC Corporation of America's intent to comply with all applicable supplier requirements of NDAA Section 889.
