NEC adds IndigoCare to its Global Healthcare Solutions Offering

Turn-key integrated iCall Nurse, Call Full IP-based Solution delivers flexible, unique IT value

Irving, Texas - June 7, 2016 - NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced IT, communications, networking and biometric solutions, today announced it is expanding its global portfolio of Healthcare solutions to include IndigoCare's iCall nurse call system.

NEC, who has been extremely successful in global healthcare markets over many years, aims to provide fully integrated solutions to hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare institutions. By enhancing its portfolio with IndigoCare's iCall smart nurse call system, NEC expands its capabilities in the healthcare market beyond the "4-walls" of the hospital environment with a Full-IP solution providing customers with an end-to- end one-stop-shop solution.

Distributed architecture ensures highest degree of flexibility.

The open, distributed architecture of this full-IP Nurse Call System and tight integration with NEC communication servers ensures the highest degree of flexibility and ease of integration for the budget conscious long-term care market segment. The iCall nurse call solution fits into any new buildings' infrastructure just as it does in retrofit projects by using IP network intelligence and its specifically designed LocalBus for re-use of old wiring.

Mark Decat, Managing Partner IndigoCare, commented: "We have many years of experience with the combined offering of iCall and the NEC portfolio. Numerous installations of this unique combination have already been implemented successfully in Belgium and we are very pleased to share our experience with NEC business partners in other regions and expand our success worldwide. We are convinced this strong proposition will strengthen the market position of NEC in the global healthcare market."

NEC and iCall provide substantial increase in staff efficiency.
In regular nurse call systems, nurses can only discover the reason of a room call by entering the room. With the iCall, NEC combination, room calls are immediately sent to a group of IP-DECT users, enabling immediate voice response from a nurse to a patient through the speakerphone of any NEC communication endpoint. The combined feature of nurse call with intercom is unique in the world and provides staff full freedom to move around and still be instantly available. Staff knows immediately the reason of a room call and can react in a faster and much more efficient way. User cases show a considerable increase in staff efficiency by using the NEC and iCall system.

Co-development supports transformation in Healthcare institutions
The iCall nurse call solution is easily integrated with other application such as notification platforms, building management systems, digital signage and access control systems. Ram Menghani, NEC vice president, UC products and support, said he expects the companies' mutual co-development plan will aim to exploit the solution's openness by adding applications that increase staff efficiency, boost the comfort level of patients and residents, and increase a healthcare institutions' competitive edge: "This is another example of how NEC helps our customers reap benefits of scale and efficiency because of our commitment to open standards."
